Niezwykłe wydarzenia poprzedziły trzymiesięczne próby pod opieką brytyjskiego choreografa Roystona Maldooma. "Rytm to jest to!" rejestruje kolejne etapy tego fascynującego eksperymentu. 250 dzieci to 250 kłębków emocji - lęku, nadziei, radości. kIRk is a rather undefined project. The city of Płock rooted trio efforts at the turnpikes of Detroit, London and Berlin. Along with the changes within the band, they have broadened their instrumentation, but not the amount of people involved. First recordings (wax for such labels like Neue Heimat, Noodles IT, Coin Op and Ghettofuck) caused panic in many underground clubs. Follow up resulted in “About Simple Things” cd+dvd EP for a Warsaw based label called 16 Werses, released in December 2009. Some of the recently composed tunes, with a bit promotion, could easily compete on national TV or radio. As the band just finished a new EP and is adding the last touches to the full length improvised album a little help from promotors and publishers can result in a worldwide frenzy.
Si Begg’s or Mary Ann Hobbs’ interest; collaboration with Mark Hawkins and LUC; performances in such clubs as the legendary Tresor or famous all over Poland Mózg; participation in festivals like Era Nowe Horyzonty (supporting Coldcut), Plateaux (sharing stage with f.a. Fennesz and Byetone), Satta Outside Lithuania or Heineken Opene'er (Best Major Festival of 2009 according to European Festival Awards); all these factors belong to the wider work spectrum of the band that is hard to define or categorize.
Hard electronic bits go hand in hand with organic melodies. Vibrant, improvising trumpet fills the air along with harsh and sharp scratches. Technical precision intertwines with jazz freemindness and uncompromising nature of hip-hop. All of the twisted ideas and concepts break loose as the semi-improvised formula of the performance come across the audience expectations, the hosting facility ambiance and the latest inspirations of the kIRk board.
